Dear friends,
Thanksgiving Day is a wonderful holiday. What a better way to spend time with your family and friends than to share a meal. It builds a tradition that a family can enjoy together and pass on to new generations. It's the perfect time of year to remember the things we are thankful for.
In Central Florida, we are particularly thankful that we were spared from any serious storms as the hurricane season comes to a close in a few short days. This year has brought our community the Burnham Institute and the approval of a UCF Medical School, which will locate a medical complex at Lake Nona and create new, high-wage jobs for residents in the area. We saw $600,000 raised through CityKids! Buddy’s Benefit for Children and the creation of the Legacy Trust for Children, both which will help fund programs, like the Parramore Kids Zone, which give underprivileged kids an opportunity to experience tutoring programs, special summer camp programs and career programs.
For all these things and more, we can be thankful this year. Take a moment this weekend to reflect on what you are thankful for. I wish all of you a happy and safe Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,

Buddy Dyer Mayor

Parties waiting for travelers to arrive at the Orlando International Airport can now park in a free parking lot and wait for the traveler to call when they are ready to be picked up outside the terminal. The 100-space lot includes complimentary Wi-Fi access, so drivers can access the Internet, check e-mail and conduct business online without charge with a wireless enabled computer.
The new lot is located adjacent to the Red Satellite Lot and eliminates the need for circling the airport if an arriving party is later than expected. For more information, call 407-825-7275.
