Mayor's Message

Dear friends,

I would like to personally invite you to our new holiday tradition... Holiday Lights Orlando at City Hall Plaza on December 5th at 5:15 p.m. Please join me, City employees, neighbors and business owners for the City's annual outdoor Christmas tree lighting ceremony. In addition to the more than 35,000 spectacular lights, you will enjoy a variety of musical entertainment, a visit from Santa and holiday-themed refreshments. Evening anchor Bob Frier of WKMG Local 6 will lead a sing-a-long, and the Hurst Chapel Choir, the Temple of Reform Judaism Choir and the St. James Cathedral Children’s Choir will also perform.

Furthermore, in the spirit of holiday giving and community service, the City has joined forces with Doc and Johnny of XL106.7 to collect toys for their Baby DJ Fund. I encourage you to bring an unwrapped toy to donate. Toys collected at this event will be distributed by XL106.7 to local families who are unable to provide their children with toys for the holidays.

I hope to see you and your family at Holiday Lights Orlando on December 5!

Sincerely,

Buddy Dyer
Mayor

City Services Available Online, All the Time

New online services have been added to CityofOrlando.net by the Economic Development Department to make it more convenient for Orlando residents to interact with their offices.

Residents can now report code violators online for properties within the city limits. A description of the violation and the address are required, however contact information is optional.

Residents can also check on the status of a code violation incident. They can use the incident number, the parcel number, or the street address to look up the incident.

For people researching a property, they can search to see if a code enforcement lien is on the property as well. This search can be done by parcel number, street address or owner’s name.

In addition to Code Enforcement’s new services, Economic Development’s Office of Permitting also has several existing online services, including looking up a permit, paying a fee, or requesting or canceling an inspection.

The Families, Parks and Recreation Department provides online registration for its numerous classes and summer school programs. People visiting the website can search through a catalog of courses and register online.

People searching for a job with the City can apply online and also submit a position interest card. E-mail notices will be sent out when requested positions are posted.

All of these online services, intended to make City services more convenient for residents, are available by going to CityofOrlando.net and clicking on the “Online Services” link undernearth the banner ads. For more information on Code Enforcement, visit http://www.cityoforlando.net/economic.
