Mayor's Message

Dear Friend,

It is playoff time in the NBA, and the Orlando Magic is competing for a championship. Sports are a great way to build community spirit, and in Orlando, we cheer for more than one professional team.

Orlando City Soccer, last year's USL Pro Champion, has already started its new season at the Citrus Bowl. Besides the battle for the ball on the field, fanatical spectators fill the stands, playing drums and trumpets and waving large flags. Go once and you may get hooked.

American Football is back with the popular Orlando Predators. Two time Arena Football Champions, the Predators have been a part of Orlando sports since 1991. The compact field and fast pace makes for exciting and entertaining games.

And after a long sleep, the Orlando Solar Bears have returned from hibernation, bringing ice hockey back to Orlando this fall. In their last season, the Solar Bears won the IHL Championship. Now in the East Coast Hockey League and with different owners, the new Solar Bears hope to give Orlando hockey fans a cool show.

The Orlando Magic has brought this City many exciting years of professional basketball. I encourage everyone to wear blue and white on game days to support the Magic during the playoffs. This is the time for our City and our team to show the nation Orlando's spirit.

Sincerely,

Buddy Dyer
Mayor
