Free Trees for Orlando Residents

Residents within City limits are eligible to receive free private trees and/or street trees.

Do you live in the City limits? Check our Orlando Information Locator using your address (although your mailing address may say “Orlando, FL”, certain areas of the region are under Orange County jurisdiction).

Why should you plant a tree? Increasing the size and quality of our urban forest can cool our City and reduce energy and water use. Learn more about the benefits of an urban canopy.

Private Property Trees

The City of Orlando’s private tree program offers residents free and reduced-cost trees to plant on your front, back or side yard, along with planting and care resources. The homeowner is responsible for planting, watering and maintaining the tree and enjoying the benefits as it grows.

Street Tree Program

The City of Orlando provides and plants trees in the right-of-way along City streets at no cost to homeowners. Interested residents should contact the City’s Parks Division to request a tree. Once it is requested, the City will determine the right place for the tree to be planted and then plant the tree. The owner is then responsible for watering, fertilizing and caring for the tree.

Neighborhood Tree Programs

Trees to Good Homes

This program is for neighborhood groups and associations who would like to purchase larger trees at wholesale prices to plant on private property. A minimum of 15 trees is required. Residents interested in this program are responsible for raising funds to purchase the trees and planting the trees once they are purchased. The City’s Parks Division will work with the group to purchase the trees.
